Papers of the Goins family, 1897-1947.

The collection contains photographs of unidentifed African-Americans who may be members of the Goins family of Charlottesville, Va. Several of the photographs were taken by the Holsinger Studio. In addition to the photographs there are scattered obituaries, correspondence and miscellaney. Most pertain to the Goins family of Charlottesville, Va. Of interest are records from the family Bible of Robert J. Goins and Sarah L. Snead, giving a record of their marriage at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Va., 1887, and the births, marriages and deaths of children and other family members. The collection also contains a printed article by H.F. Gamble "Industrial education of the Negro youth."
